Dr. Jennette Allen-McCombs is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work. She holds an MSW and Ph.D. in Social Welfare from Stony Brook University. Her current research focuses on equity, cultural wealth, higher education policy, and first-generation college students. Her other research interest includes the implementation of organizational change within child welfare agencies and institutions of higher education. Dr. Allen-McCombs teaches several courses, including social work practice, human behavior in the social environment, and methods of social work research. As a New York State licensed social worker, Dr. Allen-McCombs dedicated her career to assisting youth in crisis in a variety of settings from medical clinics to State and County justice systems. She has also conducted outcome and process evaluations for child welfare and juvenile justice agencies across New York State.
