Professor Gabriela Matson has been a practicing nurse for over 25 years, primarily in the neonatal ICU but also cross-trained in maternity and pediatrics. She has developed a passion for culturally competent care, evidence-based practice in patient care, and teaching. Her career as a nurse educator started in 2016 with the College of New Rochelle School of Nursing where she taught clinicals for maternity, pediatrics, community health, health assessment skills, and simulation lab throughout the nursing curriculum. Professor Matson received her BSN and MSN from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY. She specialized in Nursing Education in her MSN and researched the benefits of delayed-cord clamping in newborns. She also collaborated with a professor in her Master’s program in designing a curriculum for nursing students focused on geriatric care. She is currently pursuing her EdD, where she is seeking to develop new teaching strategies for diverse student bodies.
