Dr. Deutsch-Keahey is an assistant professor in York College's Clinical Laboratory Sciences (CLS) Program. She teaches lecture and lab courses in Hematology and Hemostasis. She previously taught college seminars in the CLS Profession, Laboratory Management and Professionalism, Medical Terminology, and Urinalysis in Michigan. She built a learning community for CLS students to promote their academic success and retention. Her professional experience also includes 28 years as a registered Medical Technologist (ASCP), with the advanced certification as a Specialist in Hematology. She is a Registered Dietitian and diabetes educator. She implemented free community education programs for uninsured patients with diabetes. She served as the faculty mentor for Dietetics and CLS students at an interprofessional diabetes education clinic. Her research interests include quantitative assays of insulin in prediabetes and diabetes, and redefining anemia cut-points in African-American populations.
