Dr. Efstathia Korkou is an Assistant Professor in the department of Business and Economics. Her research lies in the areas of Behavioral Finance and Financial Economics. More specifically, her work deals with the study and empirical measurement of gender differences in risk aversion once individuals are called to allocate their wealth and make investment and retirement decisions. Prior to joining York as an Assistant Professor, she has been teaching extensively as an Adjunct Lecturer at several colleges of CUNY, as a Teaching Assistant at Barnard College of Columbia University, and as an Adjunct Instructor at the School of Professional Studies of New York University. Her teaching philosophy is “in every class, to manage, through constant evaluation, repetition, and close monitoring of students’ performance, to equip all her students with the minimum of skills required, and further, to motivate and guide those students wishing to explore the material even deeper”.
