York News

Dr. Alfred Ngome Ntoko, Dean of the School of Business and Information Systems at York College has accepted a position as Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at SUNY Empire State College, effective September 1, 2014.

During his tenure at York College, Dean Ntoko brought stature to the School of Business that has yielded tangible results in student outcomes, faculty research, and program enhancement. Dean Ntoko encouraged members of the school to accelerate their research and service while cultivating a collaborative spirit. He was a mentor for department chairs, Dr. Oladipo and Professor Bharosay, and was instrumental in stabilizing the CUNY Aviation Institute under the directorship of Dr. Hsu.

An important part of Dean Ntoko's legacy to the School is the firm foundation he has established for the School to work towards achieving national accreditation. In addition, Dean Ntoko supervised a number of administrative areas: Academic Advisement, the Writing Center, Academic Computing and Educational Technology. He was the co-chair of the Task Force on Retention and Graduation Rates which provided a roadmap for the restructuring of academic advisement at the College. Externally, Dean Ntoko was a key alternate to Governor Cuomo's Regional Economic Development Council.

Please join me in thanking Dean Ntoko for his service and contributions to York College faculty and students and wish him the best in his new role as Provost. The College will immediately initiate the process to search for the next Dean of the School Business and Information Systems.
