York College Aviation Students Receive Internship Funding from The TD Charitable Foundation

The CUNY Aviation Institute at York College recently received a $5,000 grant from the TD Charitable Foundation, the charitable giving arm of TD Bank

The donation will go toward internship scholarships for students in the college’s Aviation Management program. York students will gain meaningful experience with local aviation entities, which in the past have included the Federal Aviation Administration, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and major airlines. The TD Charitable Foundation has been a generous neighbor to York for a number of years. Among the interns this summer is Aviation Management major, Dianna Rodriquez, now interning at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

“We believe that organizations such as yours play a significant role in sustaining vibrant and thriving communities,” said Peter M. Meyer, New York City Market President for TD. “The Foundation carries a legacy of supporting not-for-profit institutions and their important work throughout the region."

York couldn't agree more.

“We are very thankful for the support that the College and the Aviation institute enjoy with the TD Charitable Foundation,” said Dr. Charles Gengler, Dean of the School of Business and Information Systems at York College. “Internships are essential to our Aviation students’ preparation for careers. Many of our students are the first in their families to attend college and face financial challenges.  We greatly appreciate the support of TD, which is an important financial institution in our borough and community. Internships such as these are vital to our students as they prepare for careers in aviation management.”

The TD philosophy is that "a staunch commitment to active involvement in the local community is a vital element of the TD Bank philosophy. TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient Bank® and the TD Charitable Foundation provide support to affordable housing, financial literacy and education, and environmental initiatives, many of which focus on improving the welfare of children and families."

TD Bank is a member of TD Bank Group and a subsidiary of The Toronto-Dominion Bank of Toronto, Canada, a top 10 financial services company in North America. The Toronto-Dominion Bank trades on the New York and Toronto stock exchanges under the ticker symbol "TD". To learn more, visit www.td.com
