Passing of Past Provost & Vice President of Academic Affairs

It is with deep, deep sadness that I announce the passing of Dr. Lewis Bodi.

Dr. Lewis Bodi, was an early York administrator and Professor of Chemistry. Dr. Bodi worked his way up the administrative ladder at York, first as dean of Natural Sciences, dean of Faculty and later as the longest-serving provost and vice president of Academic Affairs. He worked tirelessly with the late President Milton Bassin for York's survival and success. Tragically, Dr. Bodi died in a fire at his home in Glen Cove, Long Island. He was 87 years old.

Funeral arrangements:

The wake will take place at McLaughlin Megiel Funeral Home, 220 Glen Street, Glen Cove, NY (516-676-8600). The times will be Friday, November 9th, 3:00-5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. The funeral service will held on Saturday November 10th at 10:00 am at McLaughlin Kramer Megiel Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Locust Valley Cemetery, Ryefield Road, Locust Valley, NY. Food and spirits will be served at the Locust Valley Inn Bistro, 225 Birch Hill Road.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to York College (http://giving.york.cuny.edu).

The family suggests that if you are attending from anywhere other than Long Island, make sure you have a full tank of gas.
