York MSW Scholar, Shantell Lewis was recently featured on CBS News


York College MSW Scholar Shantell Lewis was recently featured on CBS News discussing her concerns for foster children. Lewis works as a Wendy Wonderful Kids recruiter at Mercy, helping to find permanent placement for some of the 7,000 foster children in New York City, describes the importance of her mission:

"I work as Wendy Wonderful Kids Recruiter at MercyFirst,” she said. “My primary focus is finding permanent resources for hard-to-place youth in foster care. It’s a bittersweet experience and I’m passionate about permanency, especially for older youth. I was asked questions pertaining to COVID-19 and its effect on foster children."

Lewis, who is completing her MSW studies at York this semester, is also a York alumna on the undergraduate level of the Class of 2000, explains during the interview why foster children are more susceptible to COVID-19. See her full interview below.
