Explanation for HPE Building - National Grid Emergency

As some of you are already aware, National Grid was notified on Friday, November 25 of the smell of gas in and around the Health and Physical Education Building.

HPE Building - National Grid Emergency

National Grid dispatched an emergency unit to investigate the report and determined there was a gas leak in the street (Liberty Ave.) and that it was safe to occupy the building. National Grid continued its investigation over the weekend into this morning when it identified the source of the leak. Con Edison was called to the site at approximately 2:00 p.m. to disconnect the power to the building so Nation Grid could repair the broken pipe. The repair led to the emergency evacuation of the building. The emergency ended at approximately 2:35 p.m. when power was restored to the building. Normal operations in the building resumed just after 4:00 p.m.

Thank you all for your understanding and cooperation during this operation.
