Mask Mandate is Lifted effective March 1, 2022
In response to revised guidance issued by the CDC, CUNY lifted the temporary mask mandate that has been in place since August 2021 and required all CUNY students, faculty, staff, and visitors to wear masks inside University campuses, office buildings, classrooms, and other non-enclosed spaces. This policy change, which takes effect on Monday, March 7, follows recent announcements by Governor Hochul and Mayor Adams that ended mask mandates for pre-K through 12th-grade schools across New York State and City.
Anyone who would like to continue wearing masks in any setting is welcome to do so at any time. Masks will continue to be available at Public Safety Desks across campus for people who want them. The CDC is not requiring people to wear a mask in communities that have low or medium COVID-19 levels like New York City’s boroughs, but we urge the small number of faculty, staff, and students who are still not vaccinated, or those who have been or will be granted a medical exemption or religious exception, to wear a mask.
Student, Faculty, and Staff Access to Campus
You will need to show a green pass which indicates you are either fully vaccinated or have a negative COVID-19 test obtained from a CUNY testing center. You can do this one of two ways:
Cleared4 - Spring 2022
Student members of the community who have medical/religious exemptions or faculty/staff who are choosing not to reveal vaccination status:
You can go to any CUNY campus for testing (at York, the testing center is near the entrance of the parking lot). Test results will be processed within 24 hours (48 hours on weekends) and can be accessed by computer or smartphone.
ADCL has retained Cleared4 health verification management system to provide the platform through which participants can register for the program, schedule a test appointment, receive test results, and display proof of testing. Once registered, participants will receive an overview of the program and instructions on how to proceed. Appointment scheduling, negative test results, and other communications will all flow through the Cleared4 platform. Again, at York, the testing center is located near the entrance of the parking lot but you can go to any CUNY campus to obtain a test.
