Announcement from VP Ron Thomas
Mr. Massiah brings more than twenty years of public safety experience to the position. Since joining the public safety staff at Queens College, in 1994, as a Campus Peace Officer, Mr. Massiah worked steadily through the ranks and was appointed Deputy Director, in 2007. As Deputy Director he was responsible for directing the day-to-day security efforts in the absence of the director. Among his duties was supervising a staff of approximately 65 Campus Peace Officers and Campus Security Assistants, who were responsible for ensuring the safety of the college community among the 38 buildings and 80 acres which comprise the campus. During his long and successful tenure at Queens College he led or co-led numerous initiatives including emergency preparedness and contingency planning; budget and fiscal planning; evaluation and implementation of anelectronic time and record keeping system; implementation of Cleary Act reporting requirements; implementation of an online parking application system; and served as campus liaison to law enforcementagencies.
Mr. Massiah has a B.A. in Sociology from Queens College and an M.A. in Urban Studies/Public Policy also from Queens College.
