York College Advances University-Wide Collaboration Through CUNY Inclusive Sports Initiative
York College took part in a CUNY Inclusive and Adaptive Sports event on Friday hosted with our sister institution, Queens College, demonstrating the College’s ongoing commitment to equity, access, and student success.
York College’s presence was led by the Center for Students with Disabilities (CSD), alongside Luis Alvarez, a student leader of CCSD@York and chair of a University-wide CUNY student group. The event featured a wheelchair basketball game showcasing high-level athleticism and teamwork, as CUNY secured a win over the University of Michigan.
Attendees included Alicia Alvero, CUNY Interim Executive Vice Chancellor and University Provost, Denise B. Maybank, CUNY Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, and Rob Twible, Director of Athletics and Recreation at Queens College, along with colleagues from across CUNY, underscoring broad institutional engagement in inclusive student initiatives.
York College continues to strengthen cross-campus collaboration and support University wide efforts that expand access and meaningful student engagement.
