'Faculty in Motion' Provides Online Space for Faculty Scholarship at York

Dr. Derrick Brazill, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, is supporting a new online forum titled celebrate faculty scholarship while inspiring student engagement.

Dr. Julian Breandán Dean, assistant professor of English at York College, is the inaugural participant in this growing initiative, which was created specifically to provide faculty with a platform to share their scholarly work. Faculty in Motion, an initiative of the Office of Academic Affairs (OAA), highlights Dean’s interest in the darker aspects of theater and literature, and Dr. Brazill is encouraging other faculty members to follow his lead in sharing their scholarly accomplishments and interests.

“Our faculty’s research and scholarship are at the heart of our mission,” said Dr. Brazill. “This new initiative shines a light on their extraordinary work—work that not only advances knowledge in their fields but also enriches the academic experience of our students. By elevating the visibility of our faculty’s achievements, we hope to spark a sense of possibility in our students, encouraging them to work side by side with faculty and discover the transformative power of mentorship and hands-on research in shaping their lives and the world they will help build.”

Dr. Timothy Paglione, interim associate provost, said the forum is a timely opportunity for York faculty. “This is such a fun and engaging venue to showcase our colleagues' scholarship. It's also a unique opportunity for students and the greater community to hear what inspires our faculty, and what they consider to be the challenges and relevance of their work,” said Dr. Paglione.
