Legacy as a Military-Friendly School Continues at York
Congratulations to Larry D. Eaton, Veterans Affairs Manager at York College, CUNY, on his successful completion of the Marine Corps Educator's Workshop!

Eaton, who fondly refers to himself as an “army brat” due to his mother's service as a Private First-Class in Army Intelligence, earned his certificate at the Parris Island Marine Base in South Carolina. He emphasized that the training was no walk in the park.
"My experience with the Marine Corps Educator's Workshop was an opportunity to see firsthand what a U.S. Marine goes through during their first week of training," Eaton said. Educators from across the nation were divided into groups of 20. We ate, slept, trained, and attended classes together. Each seminar provided a deeper understanding of what recruits face day-to-day -- from the first-day yelling and 4 a.m. hand-to-hand combat training to the obstacle wall, gas chamber, rappelling wall, and gun range. We were fully immersed in military culture."
He also recalled the highlight of witnessing a Marine Corps graduation:
The experience was so fulfilling. I now know and understand the pride and commitment our men and women display as members of the elite U.S. Marines.
York College was well represented at the workshop, fittingly so. The college has proudly held the designation of Military-Friendly School for nearly 20 years, a recognition it continues to uphold through its strong support of student veterans and college administration.
