York Cardinals Collect 150+ Lbs. For York Food Pantry
The annual canned food drive had a different look in 2020 given that the campus is opened to essential employees, researchers, and a limited number of classes due to COVID-19, but that didn't stop the York College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) from giving back. The Cardinals hosted their annual drive November 24 on campus in front of the Academic Core Building entrance in conjunction with the Student Government Association's Turkey/Chicken Giveaway.
SAAC Vice President/women's basketball student-athlete Keyla Cabrera and men's cross country/track & field student-athlete Shevon Walker, who is also a SAAC team representative, were both instrumental in the volunteer and community service initiative. In total, their efforts saw the collection of over 150 lbs. that directly benefits the campus' Food Pantry.
"I do want to thank the York College student-athletes and Athletics Program with providing more than 150 lbs. of very much needed items to support the students at York College and throughout CUNY," said York College Director of the Male Initiative Program and Manager of Special Program Dr. Jonathan Quash
