Earth and Physical Sci. Dept. Grad Goes to Med School

Congratulations to Ality Aghedo '18 on his acceptance into Medical University of the Americas, in St. Kitts and Nevis!

Born in Edo State, Nigeria, Ality came to the United States at the age of 26 after being accepted into the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program, which grants permanent residence to randomly-selected applicants. Aghedo was determined to make the most of his time at York College and saw the campus as a catalyst in achieving a lengthy list of academic goals.

He did just that, networking with several Health and Science professors, which include Dr. Victor Ramsey, Dr. Mangala Tawde, Dr. Nazrul Khandaker, Dr. Susan Letteney, Dr. Nicholas Grosskopf, and Dr. Ratan Dhar. With their mentorship, Aghedo began conducting research and gaining funding/scholarship opportunities.

"A lot of people don't know the benefits of [attending] a small college," said Aghedo. "We get opportunities to network and get scholarships and research opportunities. I participated in [several] research projects."

Once Ality completed his degree from York he pursued two Master's degrees concurrently. He was accepted into Johns Hopkins University for a Master of Science in Biotechnology as well as the MBA program at Regent University's School of Business and Leadership. The latter program he attended on an online basis.

York College is extremely proud of the accomplishments of Ality Aghedo. Our Institution sends its highest regards as he pursues his advanced educational goals!
