YC Cardinal Mobile App Security Awareness
YC Cardinal Mobile App Password Note
All Students, Faculty and Staff should be aware never to use your York email or York network account password as the password for the YC Cardinal Mobile App or any website or system outside of York College. This is a major security risk that can lead to your account being hacked opening the door to access to all the systems you have the same password for.
If you have used the same password as your York email or York network account in the YC Cardinal Mobile App please use the following steps to change the password:
From the main screen look for the Settings Gear. This is the looking wheel on the right of the search field below the main banner:
Click on the gear and you should see the page that lets you change your password:
Click on the “Change Password” link. When you do you will be prompted for your email address:
Add the email address you used to create the YC Cardinal Mobile App.
Click on “Continue”
You will receive an email to this account with directions allowing you to reset your password. Go to the email account you just entered to retrieve the email sent from the YC Cardinal Mobile App. Please do not use the same password and definitely not your York email or York network account passwords when you are prompted to reset the password via the email links you will receive.
If for whatever reason you cannot get to this “change your password” page, logout of the YC Cardinal Mobile App. To Logout, go to the main page; use that “Gear” icon on the right of the search field below the main banner. You will see the page that has the “Change Password” on it. Go down to the bottom and you will see “Logout” Click on this and you will get the following screen:
When you logout of YC Cardinal Mobile App you will see the initial Welcome screen of the app:
Select one of the options that is appropriate for you. You will then be prompted with the login screen which has on it a box below the “Sign In” box. This box is the “Forgot My Password” box:
Click on the “Forgot My Password” box.
You will be prompted for the email account you used to create the YC Cardinal Mobile App. Please use only this email account. You will receive an email to this account with directions allowing you to reset your password. Please do not use the same password and definitely not your York email or York network account passwords. Go to the email account you just entered so that you can retrieve the message which will have a link on it for resetting the YC Cardinal Mobile App.
Another way that you may need to reset your password is if you enter the wrong password or the YC Cardinal Mobile App does not recognize your password. Expect to see this screen when this happens:
Click on Reset and you will be guided to the same scenario as the instructions above. Again, only enter the email address when prompted that you used to setup the YC Cardinal Mobile App account. Go to that email account to retrieve the reset instructions.
The main take away from this is to please change your password if you have used the same password for this YC Cardinal Mobile App as your York email or York network accounts. This is prohibited and must be corrected.
