Rationale for the Plan

In AY 2018-19, only four grievances were successfully submitted to the Student Complaint System. Several technical issues prevented the Office of Student Development from receiving a large portion of filed complaints. We are currently working with IT to improve our process. Thus, we want to continue to assess this initiative to ensure that we foster an environment that supports the health (mental and physical), safety, and wellness of York College students. In addition, we have received several anecdotal complaints from students regarding the quality of service or lack of programming from our sub-units. To best address these and similar concerns, we will work with OIESP to develop a satisfaction survey to identify ways we can improve our outcomes.

Data Collection and Evaluation

Data collection will take place during the mid-year review (during the winter session) and conclude at the end of the spring semester. In support of the College's mission to foster a mature culture of assessment, all members of the Office of Student Development (i.e., VP, Assistant Dean, Associate Director, Administrative Coordinator, and College Assistant) participate in our assessment process.
