Unit Mission

York College Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation Department is committed to excellence in athletics and recreation as part of a larger commitment to enriching the lives of our students through institutional pride, intellectual growth and personal well-being.

Measure

Recruiting lists to be submitted and reviewed for each sport, and information shared with Admissions office for institutional database. Feedback from prospective student-athletes and coaches in regards to recruitment and application process to develop Statistical tracking of athletic performance, both team and individual (inc. win/loss percentage, individual times etc.) and team/individual awards and recognition (conference/regional/national).

Rationale for the Plan

In order to work toward our overall mission of excellence in athletics and recreation, the individual goals set forth - equity & compliance, academic integrity & eligibility, athletic success, and facility improvement, are the foundation upon which we can provide a better student experience, enhance institutional pride and intellectual growth, whilst also focusing on personal well-being.

Data Collection and Evaluation

Data collection will occur throughout the duration of the 2019-20 academic year, and be used to compare to the prior academic year(s). Internally data collection will be collected, analysed and evaluated by Carl Christian (Interim AD), Harris Rappel (Asst. AD/SID), and Sheryl McBarnett (Athletics Academic Adviser/Compliance Coordinator). In addition, we will need supporting data from Registrar Office (Enrollment & Graduation), Office of Institutional Effectiveness (Graduation, Retention, and Academic Success) and Business Office (Financial Reports).
