Unit Mission

The Office of the Bursar is dedicated to providing courteous and efficient financial services to students, faculty, staff and external organizations. We collect revenues and maintain student financial records with a focus on financial integrity and accountability in accordance with York College, The City University of New York (CUNY), State and Federal policies and procedures.

A CUNYfirst query that tracks each cashier's collection will be compared to the cashier daily receipts to ensure funds are properly collected, accounted for, and deposited into the respective bank accounts. The College Accountant will collect the data.

Rationale for the Plan

The Office of the Bursar is a customer service based department that must ensure our stakeholders are satisfied and being properly served.

In accordance with CUNY's policy, collections must be properly identified and deposited in the appropriate accounts. Failure to make proper deposits result in reconciling items with the Business Office and CUNY's Revenue Unit.

Data Collection and Evaluation

During the spring 2020 semester, an online survey will be sent to all stakeholders that have received services from the Office of the Bursar. The Office of Institutional Research will facilitate the data received from the survey.

For the month of January 2020, the Accountant will compare the CUNYfirst cashiering receipt query with the receipts and deposit tickets for the funds collected. The entire month of January 2020 will be evaluated to ensure proper collection and deposit of funds.
