Rationale for the Plan

The accrediting agency for the CLS program, NAACLS (National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science), requires monitoring and reporting of the ASCP exam pass rate and graduation rate and stipulates benchmarks for each.

Data Collection and Evaluation

The direct measures are the raw scores on the MediaLab exam and ASCP exam. All students enrolled in the second semester of internship, CLS 460, will be evaluated. Up to twenty students are enrolled each semester. The program director will evaluate the exam data for students who complete internship in fall and spring semesters. In addition, at the conclusion of each clinical rotation during the two semesters of internship, preceptors complete evaluation forms. These forms will be reviewed for all CLS460 interns during the academic year.
