Setting up the weighing for each category in the “Weighted Total” column

This is a tutorial on how to set up the weighing (e.g. percentage) for each of the categories in the “Weighted Total” column.

This tutorial will show you how to set up the course grade, e.g. Weighted Total column. It includes all grade categories with respective weighings. 

  1. In your Bb course, go to the Course Management section located below the Course Menu and click “Grade Center”. Then click “Full Grade Center”.                                                                                                   Go to Full Grade Center
  2. In the Full Grade Center view, go to “Weighted Column.” Click on the down arrow and select "Edit Column Information."

  3. Scroll down to the "Select Columns" section. In the box on the left, select the columns whose names have percentage sign in front, click the arrow in the middle to move them to the box on the right. Then fill in corresponding percentage for each of them. They should end up to 100% in total.

  4. Click Submit to save it. 

Your weighted total column has been set. As you fill in grades for each of the assignment, the weighted total will display the course grades students get so far.

Note: If you set YES to “Calculate as Running Total” here in the Weighted Total column, enter “0” on cells where no assignment is submitted.

Congrats, you have set up the weighted column! Let's create grade columns to record grades for assignments collected outside of Bb.

If you collect assignments using Bb Tools, go to adding assignment grade columns to the calculated category column (e.g. the one whose name has % sign).
