The Summer Academy gives the York Merit Scholars’ freshmen a jumpstart on their college experience. For three weeks during the summer before their first semester, the scholars participate in introductory classes in order to be prepared for college-level work. This way when the scholars begin their first semester as college students, they will already have a “heads up” on what is to come and what is required. In addition, the Merit Scholars participate in trips to various locations of academic interest, such as The Museum of Modern Art, NY1 TV Studios and The Rose Center for Earth and Space, among others.
