Flight Familiarization Students Visit JetBlue Headquarters
May 25, 2007, York College's Flight Familiarization Program sits down with members of the Jetblue management team to discuss the past, present and future of the airline industry.

As part of the Flight Familiarization Program the Aviation Management students had the opportunity to visit JetBlue's headquarters located in Forest Hills, NY. There they met numerous staff members, including the new Chief Operating Officer, Russ Chew. He shared his knowledge of the industry with the students, which gave them a buoyant perspective of their career goals. They also met the Charter Operations Director, Tom Amato, and the System Operations Manager, Randall Ali, who gave them the chance to listen to the daily briefing the office has with other offices located nationwide, that are in charge of carrying out the day to day aviation operations. Icema Gibbs, the Director of Community Relations also greeted the students and presented them with gifts from the company. These organization members went over Jetblue’s history, the expectations they have for the future, and most importantly, the corporation’s values which are safety, caring, integrity, fun, and passion. The unique approach the company has towards bringing “humanity” into the industry was also discussed with the students. The company’s ideal is to provide a more humane service which is convenient and flexible for the passengers. They learned about the responsibilities of various division, such as the 24/7 customer service department, Jetblue University, and the dispatch department. At the Jetblue University aspiring employees are trained for certain positions such as flight attendants and pilots. This live experience familiarized them with expectations the aviation world requires.
