Citywide Carjacking Alert

Please be on Alert...There have been 7 carjacking incidents in the month of May involving high end vehicles including but not limited to Mercedes, BMW and Range Rover etc.

These incidents have taken place at a current rate of twice per week.  All incidents have occurred after 11pm in the boroughs of Brooklyn and Staten Island.

Description of incidents is as follows:

The pattern consists of seven cases involving one to three male blacks who take the victims vehicles. In three of the incidents the subject uses a weapon (gun and knife) and in another the subject threatens the victim. In two other incidents the subjects use their car (also a high end make) to bump the victim's car and when the victim exits his car to look at damage the subjects flee with the victim's car. One other incident the victim is at a car wash waiting for his car when the subject jumps in and takes the car. Two of the vehicles have been recovered in Newark, New Jersey (Incidents 2 and 3). Vehicle in incident # 5 was recovered by Border Enforcement Security Task Force inside a container heading to Toga, Africa.
