The Harcourt Fellowship Program

The Alfred Harcourt Foundation, founded in New York in 1962, is named for Alfred Harcourt, one of the founders of the distinguished publishing firm, Harcourt Brace Jovanovich. The Harcourt Foundation annually provides a grant to the CUNY Research Foundation for distribution by Hunter College to award 30 new Harcourt Fellowships, to be divided equally between Hunter College STEM programs and The Teacher Academy programs at Brooklyn, City, Staten Island, Hunter, Lehman, Queens, and York colleges.

The goal of the Harcourt Fellowships is to enable low-income students from underrepresented populations who are pursuing undergraduate degrees in STEM disciplines and/or preparing to teach in STEM fields to complete their undergraduate degrees and successfully move on to the next steps of their professional lives. The Fellowship program awards each recipient a $5,000 annual scholarship and provides funding support for a faculty mentor. The Fellowship awards can be renewed annually for a total of three years.
