Join Professor Linda M. Grasso for an illustrated discussion of her book Equal Under the Sky: Georgia O’Keeffe and Twentieth-Century Feminism (University of New Mexico Press), the first historical study of the artist’s complex involvement with, and influence on, U.S. feminism from the 1910s to the 1970s. Drawing from paintings, photographs, correspondence, print media, fan mail, and archival documents, Dr. Grasso explores how O’Keeffe and feminism have been linked in popular culture and the public imagination. 

Dr.Linda M. Grasso holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in American Studies from Brown University and specializes in U.S. Literature and Culture, Women's Literature, and Women's and Gender Studies. In addition to Equal Under the Sky, Dr. Grasso is the author of The Artistry of Anger: Black and White Women's Literature in America, 1820-1860 (University of North Carolina Press) and numerous essays on nineteenth and twentieth-century U.S. women’s literature and culture. Dr. Grasso is the recipient of the York College Outstanding Scholarship Award (2018) and her book, Equal Under the Sky: Georgia O’Keeffe and Twentieth-Century Feminism, has been named an “Outstanding Academic Title” by Choice, the premier review journal of new academic titles.
