According to New York State Education Department Office of Professions, the practice of licensed master social work and the use of the title "Licensed Master Social Worker" and the designation of "LMSW" or derivatives thereof in New York State requires licensure as a licensed master social worker, unless otherwise exempt under the law. We provide opportunities through course work and trainings, to assist our scholars to prepare for the state licensure examination.

Dr. Daria V. Hanssen, Ph.D., LCSW
LEAP Licensing Exam Preparation Course Presenter

Dr. Hanssen holds committee positions on the board of the National Association of Social Workers and serves as an accreditation site visitor for the Council on Social Work Education, as well as a member of the Nomination and Leadership Committee.  Dr. Hanssen is also the BSW Program Director and Associate Professor of Social Work at Marist College in New York. Prior to teaching at Marist, she taught at Lyndon State College as well as at SUNY New Paltz. Prior to working in higher education, she practiced in the areas of mental health with children and families, family preservation, hospice, and corrections. Currently, Dr. Hanssen continues to consult with community agencies, serves on local boards of directors for Hudson River Housing and Mental Health America, as well as the New York State Social Work Education Association.

Effective February 2019, the Commission on Accreditation (COA) Granted Candidacy Status to MSW Program at CUNY York College.
