August 2015: Newspaper Article: Power Outage in Park Slope

In Park Slope, Brooklyn, one of the biggest food coops in the country deals with a crisis.

Power Outage at Coop.” Tom Moore. Linewaiters Gazette. 8 August 2015.

While on deadline, editing the latest issue of Brooklyn’s Park Slope Food Coop twice a month newsletter, the store suddenly shut down. In the middle of all of editing, the lights went out at the store. It was a power failure and it had to be reported. I decided to find out whether large amounts of food were spoiling at the grocery store and what action the staff was taking. The staff and membership of the food coop banded together and worked all night to deal with the problem. Coop management said nothing spoiled. No food was lost. Length: 1200 words.
