York's Men's Volleyball Earns Spot into ECAC Tournament
The York College men's volleyball team has secured a bid to the 2013 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Division Championship. The Cardinals have earned the #3 seed and will battle Ramapo College in the semifinal round on Saturday, April 20 at 1 p.m. The one-day tournament will be hosted by Stevenson University in Owings Mills, Maryland.
Should the Cardinals advance, they will play in the Championship game immediately after their match against either top-seeded Stevenson University or fourth-seeded, New Jersey City University. Stevenson (24-12) and NJCU (19-16) will face off in the other semifinal at 11 a.m.
York finished the season with a school record in wins, going 24-15, while advancing to the CUNYAC Championship game. The Cardinals upset Hunter College to advance to the finals before losing to #7 Baruch College in the title match.
York and Ramapo (19-11) did not play each other this season and have not met since the 2007 season. The Cardinals also did not face Stevenson this year and last played back in 2010. The Cardinals did meet NJCU twice this season, with the two teams splitting the season series.
