NUR450-The objective of the course was to “bring theory into practice’ and to expose nursing students to inequality and inequity in health care. The nursing students involved in the project were seniors and juniors who had been previously exposed to providing nursing care to clients in clinical settings within the USA. The project – a two week mission to Haiti, therefore allowed students to bring and apply their skill set and knowledge to a different health care setting and culture. The featured activities were two weeks emersion in the Haitian culture that allowed eleven students (and three Professors) exposure to Haitian health care, language, and life style. The food, music, religion and ambience were however, inescapable.

Haiti 2014 Student Experiences
This powerpoint presentation focuses on the experiences of the York College Department of Nursing Students during their service learning project in Haiti during the summer of 2014. The Students had the opportunity to work along side other health professionals to provide much needed care to the undeserved communities.
