The Queens College graduate library students of
class GSLIS 747 of the Fall 2004 semester would like to welcome you
to our Library Technology
Timeline Web site. This Web site is meant to illustrate chronologically
the first use of a techonolgy in a library in the United States from
1945 to the present. Since our goal is to provide information that is
factual and accurrate, we have validated all entries with attached bibliographic
reference citations.
The entries can be easily
accessed by using the chronological links or our "Library Index."
The best of efforts have been made to include the bibliographic source
in correct APA style format. However, not all citations are complete.
At the very least, the author, copyrighted date and title is always
provided.
In order to maintain the integrity of the Web site's validity, we encourage
constructive feedback and submissions from visitors using the "Submit
to this Timeline" page. A final Webliography lists, in general,
all sources used as well as provide useful library and technology links.
