What are the passing scores for the CAT Basic Skills Tests in Reading and Writing?
The passing scores for the CAT Basic Skills Tests are as follows:

Reading: |
a scaled score of 70 or more. |

Writing: |
a total score of 56 or more. |
| Math: | a score of 40 in Pre-Algebra and 35 in the Algebra section. |
Students who achieve passing scores on both the Reading Skills Test and the Writing Sample Essay Test demonstrate competency in reading and writing and will be placed in College Composition I at their colleges. Students may also use these scores to satisfy the reading and writing skills admissions requirements for CUNY senior colleges.
