Services and Activities
TRIO Student Day is held at the beginning of each semester. All program participants are required to attend to receive valuable program information and updates.
Program participants receive one on one academic advisement for course selections according to their majors. A counselor/academic advisor is assigned to the student throughout school enrollment.
Personal and Career Counseling
Counselors are available to SSS students in need of counseling on a variety of issues, problems and concerns. The SSS counselor provides ongoing academic advisement, orientation and study skills seminars.
SSS provides eligible students with tutoring in most academic courses. The tutoring is conducted by high-achieving York students who have demonstrated their academic abilities and have shown a strong desire to help others. Individual or small-group sessions are held in the program's Computer Resource Center and the library. Tutors receive ongoing training and support from SSS staff members.
Computer Resource Room
SSS students have access to a private Computer Resource Room used only by SSS participants. The room is located in the rear of Room AC-3E03 and features new state-of-the-art Dell desktop computers with high speed Internet access and a high speed networked printer. Free printing is available and staff members are always on hand to assist.
