Does the Student Health Center offer free medications?

Students may obtain basic over-the-counter medications in the Student Health Services Center (as available).

Does the Student Health Center offer counseling? If not where can I go?

Students are welcomed to talk to the nurse if they suspect their physical illness is stress related, but are highly encouraged to visit the York Counseling Center which is conveniently housed in the same building when the college is back in session. All student information is kept confidential.

Does the Student Health Services Center offer the flu vaccine?

The Student Health Services Center does offer the flu vaccine to students free of charge (if student has no insurance).  Please contact the Student Health Services Center via email or phone for more information.  Our email address is StudHealthSvcCtr@york.cuny.edu.  Phone contact is (718) 262-2050.

Does the Student Health Services Center assist with applying for health insurance?

Yes, the Student Health Service Center conducts health insurance fairs on campus where providers assist students in applying for health insurance.  Please contact the Student Health Services Center for more information.  Our email address is StudHealthSvcCtr@york.cuny.edu.

Is there a nurse on the premises during all opening hours?

Yes. There is a Registered Nurse at the Student Health Services Center.

Is the Center accessible to people with disabilities?

What are the general services offered by the Student Health Services Center?

  • Verification of immunization (MMR, Meningitis, COVID) status within CUNYFirst
  • Verification of student immunization forms and supporting documentation
  • Verification of student medical/physical forms and supporting documentation 
  • First aid for minor illness/injury
  • Evaluation of illness/injury with treatment, counseling, and/or referrals
  • Infirmary care for temporary illness
  • Blood pressure monitoring
  • Band-aids for lacerations, abrasions and pressure sores
  • Analgesics for pain
  • Provide approved over-the-counter medications
  • Communicable disease tracking and follow up
  • Dressing changes
  • Patient advocacy at hospitals and clinics as necessary
  • Administration of CUNY-approved vaccinations

Does the Student Health Services Center provide nutrition counseling?

The Student Health Services Center provides information on nutrition.

Does the Health Center administer pregnancy tests?

The Student Health Services Center does not administer pregnancy tests.

Does the Student Health Services Center offer smoking cessation services?

The Student Health Services Center does provide smoking cessation services.

Is the Student Health Services Center open on the weekends?

The York College Student Health Services Center is not open on the weekends.  However we do have extended hours on Thursdays until 6:15pm while classes are in session. 

What type of vaccinations does the health center offer?

The Student Health Services Center administers the mumps, measles, rubella or MMR, Flu, HepB and Tdap vaccinations.
