Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Career Resource Center?

The CRC is a one stop center for all of your career related needs. In 3M01 students have access to various resources that will assist you in your career development.  Our staff offices are located in 3E03.

Why do I have to register on your website?

Our website allows you access to all of our employers, their job postings and internships.  Employers would have access to your resume once you upload it. You would also be able to quickly learn about upcoming events, such as career fairs, on campus recruiting, workshops and corporate events.

Where do I log in?

Click on For Students, then Student Sign-on to begin the online registration.  After you complete the process, it is important that you activate your account by going to your email and clicking on the link that will be sent to you.  You will then be sent a second email with your ID and password.

I registered a long time ago, but I forgot my password and ID, can you look it up?

Sometimes we are able to recover your ID but not your password. You will have to use the password look up feature.  If no information is in the system for you, then you will have to register again.

Do I have to wait until my senior year to visit the Career Center?

Contrary to popular belief, you really should stop by the CRC during your first week on campus.  There are various steps that you need to follow to complement your classroom experience.  Often students wait until the last minute and by then it is too late!

Can you help me find a job?

The Career Center does not function as an "employment agency," nor does it guarantee employment. Rather, we work with employers who want to provide opportunities to students either through on-campus interviewing or by posting positions. In addition, we actively strive to broaden the exposure of our students to career opportunities.

Why do an internship?

Internships are a key way of building relevant work experience. They can build your resume, add needed skills, expose you to the professional workplace, help build your network, help you find positive references, and lead to a full-time career positions. They also can help you choose or refine your selection of major or career.

Can I make an individual appointment to see someone?

One of the most important things that you can do during your time at York is to make an appointment with a career adviser, who can offer one-on-one attention tailored to your individual needs. The staff at the Career Center is available to provide information to ALL students, in a personalized and professional manner with the goal of making your career search process efficient and most importantly successful.
