What Happens at NSO?
Check-in for students and guests begins at 8:30 a.m. During the NSO, you will be formally welcomed to the University, you will meet with other new students, and participate in team-oriented activities. In addition, you will receive important information about our academic programs and the many services that available to you as a student.
How Should I Prepare for NSO?
To prepare for NSO, wear comfortable shoes and clothing. We will provide you with an information folder packet and a pen. You are encouraged to browse the York College/CUNY website and the New Student Orientation pages to familiarize yourself with the college and prepare any questions you may have to be answered at the orientation.
Where is Orientation?
New Student Orientation will begin in the Performing Arts Center, located on Guy R. Brewer Blvd. Students and guests will then proceed across the street to the Atrium (main lobby) of the Academic Core Building.
Can I Bring a Guest to NSO?
Due to space limitations, you may bring up to 2 guests. We offer a separate Orientation for Parents and Guardians to familiarize them to the campus community. A program of the day's events will be provided at check -in.
Do I Have to Pay an Orientation Fee?
No, there is no fee to attend NSO.
Is NSO Mandatory for all New Students?
All new incoming students are highly encouraged to participate in the New Student Orientation. Call the Division of Student Development - New Student Orientation (718-262-2152) if you have questions, concerns or need special accomodations.

When do I Register for Classes?
Workshops are scheduled on a weekly basis in the Counseling Center, AC-1G02. The workshop schedule is availalbe on the Counseling Center site. You can also call 718-262-2272 to schedule your appointment. If you have been admitted to the SEEK Program, please contact the SEEK Program in regard to registration at 718-262-2300
