Register to be a Judge
To become a judge of the NYC Metro and NY Long Island Junior Sciences and Humanities Symposium.
Dear Prospective Judges:
York College of the City University of New York has been selected by the Academy of Applied Sciences to organize and host the 2014 New York City Metro and NY Long Island Junior Science Humanities Symposium (NYCM JSHS and NYLI JSHS). The NYCM JSHS and NYLI JSHS will select the students who will represent their respective regions to the National Junior Science and Humanity Symposium organized by the Academy of Applied Sciences. The NYCM JSHS and NYLI JSHS regional Symposia are cheduled to take place on Sunday, February 9, 2014 on York College’s campus in Jamaica, Queens.
All high school students’ grades 9-12 from NY Long Island and NYC Metropolitain areas are eligible to participate in the symposium. All students must submit a research paper which will be reviewed and evaluated by college faculty and practicing scientists and engineers. The students who submit the best papers will be invited to participate in the Symposium to make a short seminar presentation on Sunday, February 9, 2014 (12 minute presentation, 6 minute question and answers). Judging committees comprised of college faculty and practicing scientists and engineers, following the guidelines of the Academy of Applied Sciences, will evaluate the presentations and select the high school students (junior scientists) who will represent New York City Metro and NY Long Island regions on the National Symposium. High school students will be eligible for awards according to the Academy of Applied Sciences policies.
This is a great opportunity for junior scientits (high school students) to interact with college faculty, practicing scientists and engineers.
