York College/community celebration, which will begin this year with a ceremony remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

York’s president, Dr. Marcia V. Keizs, preceded by the playing of “Taps,” by a National Guard Reservist, from the Jamaica Armory, will open the formal program at 12:30 p.m. with remarks, a wreath-laying at the college’s flagpole on the Plaza and the call for a moment of silence to honor the day.

YorkFest features hours of free music on the Plaza of the Academic Core Building, headlined by Jamaica’s own R&B sensation Thr3e. The popular York College Big Band starts the show, followed by Harmony Music Makers, a much admired steel band.

There’ll be rides, activities and ice cream for the kids. Refreshments will be available, too.

YorkFest is a celebration of York College spirit, welcoming the relationship between the students, faculty and staff of York and the surrounding community. We look forward to seeing you there!

  • The evaluation of transfer credits is completed by the Office of the Registrar upon notification by the Admission's Office of the payment or waiver of the Commitment Fee. Transfer credit can only be awarded for schools listed on the student's entry application.
  • Prospective students for the Occupational Therapy and Physician Assistant Programs, should contact those departments directly for a tentative evaluation of their transcripts.
  • Transfer students from other CUNY colleges are encouraged to visit CUNY's online Transfer Information and Program Planning System (CUNY TIPPS) for information about transfer credit.  www.tipps.cuny.edu. (For reference purposes only.)
  • York College will accept a maximum of 68 credits from a 2-year accredited institution and 80 credits from a 4-year accredited institution.

Students may graduate with a minor, or a second major. Students must fulfill all requirements of the minor, or second major as stipulated by the disciplines(s).  The same course cannot be used to fulfill requirements of both majors, nor can the same course be used to fulfill major and minor requirements. Substitutions for overlapping courses will be made at the discretion of the department chair of the minor, or second major.  Any specifications regarding General Education Requirements apply to the primary major only.  Students will receive their degree in one discipline only, their primary major.  The minor, or second major will be listed on the student's transcript.

All finals will be held in your current classroom. Your instructor will announce any change in this schedule. Students who have conflicts or three examinations in one day should obtain a form from the Office of the Registrar to request a make-up examination.

REFER TO THE BULLETIN FOR PROCEDURES REGARDING MISSED EXAMINATIONS OR INCOMPLETE GRADES

Grades will be mailed to students approximately two weeks after the last day of final examinations. Students who wish to know their grades earlier should give their instructors self-addressed stamped postcards. Grades may also be obtained by using eSIMS. No grades will be available in the Office of the Registrar.
