Title IX Policy

York College is committed to maintaining a fair and equal environment for both its employees and student body, consistent with the requirements of Title IX of the Education Amendments Acts of 1972, which state that:

“No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or be subjected to, discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance…”

Anyone – of any gender, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, citizenship status, race, class or educational level – can suffer from sexual harassment, including sexual violence. We want to make sure students understand their rights related to sexual harassment and assault.  Any student who believes he or she has been discriminated against on the basis of gender may direct all inquiries, concerns and complaints to the Title IX Coordinator, Gail Marshall (gmarshall@york.cuny.edu).  If a student does not agree with the Title IX Coordinator's decision, he or she may direct concerns to the President's Title IX designee, the Executive Director of Legal Affairs & Labor Relations:
