MSW  Yeshiva University, Wurzweiler School of Social Work  Social Work  1992
I have stumbled upon the social work field after dabbling in a number of other areas of human endeavor - studying mechanical engineering in the Soviet Union (where I was born and have spent my formative years); working for a wine-importing company, attending a graduate business school, driving a cab in New York City, and raking blueberries in Maine. I found my true vocation in social work and never looked back. Worked my way up from case worker to clinic director earning graduate and doctoral degrees along the way. My abiding interest in the field of chronic mental illness has led me to academia where i teach, coordinate the Social Work Program and pursue studies in Eastern Europe in the areas of ethnographic research at psychiatric hospitals and Soviet psychiatry.
