      Planned and moderated the Journalism Program’s Enrichment Series on New York City Politics and Local News Reporting, featuring New York City Councilman I. Daneek Miller as well as the editor in chief and reporters from the Queens Tribune.: Spring 2014.

      Moderated Journalism major presentations for York College’s Student Research Day. Brought together group of York journalism students featuring their research, reporting and writing done in my Special Topics Science Journalism class. Also arranged special journalism program student meeting with Pulitzer Prize winning guest speaker at York’s Research Day.: Spring 2014.

      Mission Statement Committee: Reformulated English Department and Journalism Program mission statements.: Spring 2014.

      Planned and moderated this event entitled, Analysis of the News Coverage of the Boston Marathon Bombing and the Role Social Media Played. Special guests included the chief of the Boston Globe’s social media coverage and a Daily News reporter who covered the events in Boston. The former Executive Editor of the Daily News was also part of the panel.: Fall 2013.

      York College Student Research Day - Journalism Moderator. Supervised Journalism major presentations for York College’s Student Research Day. Brought together group of York journalism students featuring their news radio reporting work in collaboration with students at the University of Bamberg in Germany. Placed emphasis on news stories for the German audience as well as the research and writing needed to produce professional newscasts: Spring 2013.

      York College Student Research Day - Journalism Moderator. Supervised Journalism major presentations for York College’s Student Research Day. Advised and edited a group of students’ TV news reports. Supervised the students as they added deeper context to their story by doing more research and reporting. Assisted students as they improved the video and still photography featured in their reports: Spring 2012.

      CUNY - CBS News 60 Minutes Summer Student Bootcamp. Reformulated the CUNY-wide CBS News - 60 Minutes Broadcast Journalism Bootcamp program into an all day seminar, exposing York students exclusively to professional TV News producing techniques at CBS News - 60 Minutes. This program, offered to York College only, provided personal guidance and one on one critiques from CBS News senior journalists. Interviewed and selected students to participate in this summer TV news-training program. Attended planning meetings and guided students. Spring/Summer 2011: selected York students to take part in a two week long CUNY wide CBS News - 60 Minutes Broadcast Journalism Bootcamp during which students came up with story ideas, researched, reported and wrote their stories while shooting the video needed to tell the story on the air. Supervised students as they worked on reporting, writing, and producing their broadcast journalism projects. Guided students as they shot and then edited interviews and other video footage to produce their projects.: Summer 2011 & Summer 2012.

      Journalism Program Enrichment Events. Planned and executed Journalism Program events for Journalism Majors and others – featuring expert panels of guests speaking about various topics in journalism: • Spring 2013: Moderated part of the Journalism Program’s Enrichment Series on News and Social Media. Also helped manage the events and select the experts who would attend both talks. Guests included CUNY Graduate School of Journalism Faculty, a Newsday reporter and a Vibe Magazine Managing Editor among others. • Fall 2012: Planned and moderated two-part enrichment event on Business of Media. Guests included York Alumni from NBC-TV and the business magazine publishing world. • Spring 2012: Panel from Vibe, Billboard and Entertainment Weekly magazines covered arts and entertainment reporting. Included discussion with students of reporting, ethics, and the job market among other topics. • Fall 2011: Guests from CBS Radio News Network and WPIX-TV in New York spoke about aspects of broadcast news including news writing and reporting, on-air reporting, and breaking into the business with an internship. • Spring 2011: Panelists from Fox Business News, Ziff Davis and others discussed the basics of business news reporting, covering Wall Street and personal finance.: Spring 2010 to Present.

      English Department/Journalism Program Graduates’ Brunch event – coordinated information about York Journalism graduates and assisted with presentations of their news stories.: Spring 2011 to Present.

      York College Faculty Web Video Profile Project: Organized, wrote, edited and produced a series of York College faculty video profiles for use on the college website, working with Communications Technology’s Daniel Phelps, as part of a Provost’s office project.: 2012-2013.
