Mary-Jo Kranacher is a CPA and a certified fraud examiner (CFE). She is the ACFE Endowed Professor of Fraud Examination and chairman of the Department of Accounting & Finance in the School of Business & Information Systems. She is also the Editor-in-Chief of The CPA Journal, published monthly by the New York State Society of CPAs.
Professor Kranacher was one of several subject matter experts who served on a project funded by the U.S. Department of Justice, which culminated in the development of a model curriculum for fraud and forensic accounting education.
Professor Kranacher has conducted forensic investigations and she writes and speaks extensively on anti-fraud education, forensic accounting, fraud detection and deterrence, professional ethics, and accounting education. She was recently selected as the 2009 ACFE Educator of the Year, and co-authored Forensic Accounting and Fraud Examination, a textbook published by John Wiley & Sons.
