Alvey has decades of geological and environmental consulting experience for utility and governmental agencies. For the last 20 years he has been a geologist with USEPA in NY concentrating on "Superfund" toxic and hazardous waste site investigations. Alvey served a 2-year term as Co-chair of the EPA Groundwater Forum - (EPA and State experts), and a detail as Special Assistant to the EPA Regional Administrator. In 2016 he was elected to the Board of Directors of the New York State Council of Professional Geologists. Alvey is also an active member of the NY State Urban and Community Forestry Council.
