As the CUNYfirst core team works on critical cutover tasks in order to launch the new Human Resources, budget and course catalog functionality, system users are progressing through training. Human Resources professionals continue to receive training at the five borough centers, and training for budget and course catalog are now set, and those users will be trained over the next two weeks.
Michael D'Amico had passed York College countless times on his way to work as a firefighter stationed in South Jamaica; so when he retired four years ago, higher education beckoned and he chose York for his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education (PE).

This year's topic was High-Throughput Methods of Detecting Foodborne Pathogens. Thirty-three scientists from eight countries--Thailand, Vietnam, Mexico, Nigeria, Germany, Canada, China and the U.S.--met to discuss rapid methods of detecting pathogens such as salmonella and eColi in food.

Artur Bababekov and Dmitry Malayev have a lot in common. In the late 1980s both were born in Uzbekistan when it was still Soviet Russia. Both left at about the time of the dissolution of Soviet Union and eventually came to the United States as young children; then both graduated from Forest Hills High School and came to York.
The York College women's track and field team won its third straight City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) championship Tuesday and they did it in dominating fashion. The Lady Cardinals squad amassed 231 team points, which was a remarkable 80 points more than the second place team, Lehman College, who finished with 151 points.

Sheryl Purrier, a Biology major, graduated with honors from York College in 2006; but she never left York. She continued to work in the lab of her mentor, Dr. Margaret MacNeil, on the prize-winning research paper, "The Organization for the Inner Nuclear Layer of the Cat Retina."

It was an evening to remember when York College hosted the 2nd Annual Scholarship Benefit Concert Tuesday, April 21, 2009, in the Performing Arts Center (PAC).
The Aviation Club sponsored its 2nd Annual Aviation Day on April 2, 2009. This event continues to bring York Aviation Management students, high school students, and industry professionals together to discuss aviation careers.
