Supporting the Philippines

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff, As you are aware, parts of the Philippines were recently devastated by a monster Typhoon, which has left an untold number of people in dire need of assistance.

As members of the larger CUNY Community, we have been asked to contribute to the relief efforts. And as a college family, we understand all too well, the importance of participating in this endeavor to help those who are in their time of need. It is hard to believe that as recently as last year we served as an evacuation site for nearly two weeks when our community was devastated by Hurricane Sandy.

This time the call is not for our space. This call is to help with our small cash donations. Our goal is to raise at least $10,000 in support of this effort. Just imagine, if each of us donated a minimum of one dollar, we could reach our goal of $10,000, which would be sent to the Philippine Red Cross. This effort is being coordinated by the Division of Student Development and the Filipino-American Club here at York.

Please look for the big banner and a locked collection box at our table in the Atrium on Thursday (11/14) through Friday (11/15) 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 pm., and on Saturday (11/16) from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm.

We will be there again next week and our schedule will be the same: 9:00 am – 9:00 pm, Monday the 18th through Thursday the 21st and again on Saturday the 23rd from 10 am.-1:00 pm. There will be staff volunteers at a special table to accept your donations in the Atrium.

Thanking you in advance for your generosity.

Sincerely,

Geneva M. Walker -Johnson

VP for Student Development
