Four-Day Summer Work Week - 2014

All Full-Time Employees (Excludes Faculty, Security, Skilled Trades) York College will again participate in the Four-Day Summer Work Week established by the University.

This is a reminder to all full-time employees (excluding Security, Stationary Engineers & Oiler), that York College will again participate in the Four-Day Summer Work Week established by the University. The summer schedule will begin this year on Monday, June 23, 2014 and end Friday, August 8, 2014. All administrative offices must have coverage and be open during business hours on all other Fridays. The Independence Day holiday will be observed on Friday , July 4, 2014. During that week, staff shall have four regular seven-hour days on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

In order to maintain the integrity of the extended four-day work week concept, the University has asked that each college ensure that employees who are working an extended day, actually work the scheduled hours. Please use this as an opportunity to discuss and stress the importance of appropriate office coverage in your area. Reasonable strategies for meeting this expectation should be developed.

Employees can choose one of three (3) or four (4) options to complete their normal weekly hours in a four-day period. However, should the needs of your department/office require a schedule which has not been identified, please contact me to discuss alternate schedules. Options #2 and #3 are subject to availability of sufficient annual leave.

Please have each full-time, clerical, administrative, custodial and non-teaching instructional staff member in your area complete the Four-Day Summer Work Week form. For proper timekeeping in your area, please record each person’s summer schedule and return the completed forms to Ms. Mary Wigfall, AC -H201, no later than Friday, June 6, 2014. If a selection is not made by June 6th, employees will be placed in Option #3.

Please feel free to call the Office of Human Resources at extension 2135 if you have any questions or need additional information.
