Appointment Notice from VP Thomas

It is my pleasure to announce the appointment of Mr. James Minto to the position of Executive Director of Facilities, Planning and Operations, effective Tuesday, February 18. Mr. Minto brings to the position more than twenty-eight years of experience in facilities management and operations.

Prior to York College, he served as the regional Vice President (Eastern USA) and senior vice president of operations and management at Sodexo, where he concentrated his efforts in optimizing effectiveness and efficiency. Before that he was the senior vice president of operations at the Burks Companies, where he developed and implemented building operation management models and programs. He also served as director of facilities and operations at the New York Public Library and vice president for engineering services at ABM Industries. Mr. Minto has worked in a variety of organizational settings including education, health care, engineering, building management, and a public utility.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Richard Slawski for his service to York College over the past two years and to wish him well in retirement. Since coming to York College in 2012, Richard had led the Facilities Office and B&G department in their effort to complete a wide, complex array of capital and critical maintenance projects as well as innumerable in-house renovations and upgrades. He worked closely with colleagues throughout the college to shape its Five-Year Capital Budget strategy and funding request in ways that will benefit the college community for many years to come.

We wish Richard and his family well.
