York College launched its latest endeavor in experiential learning with the establishment of a Service-Learning Advisory Board.

This CETL presentation and workshop will introduce faculty to the Board and its mission, as well as discuss opportunities to introduce service-learning pedagogy into new and existing courses. We encourage faculty across all disciplines to attend, especially those from disciplines that do not have an inherent fieldwork or internship component to their courses.

Attendees will hear how colleagues have already successfully integrated service-learning into their courses, and how such courses are assets for students who want to have an advantage when applying for work or graduate school. Examples of how to implement service-learning in various courses - from single, extra-credit assignments to semester-long projects - will be presented for teaching, research, and publication. Information on various available grants will also be provided.
