To begin the Spring semester of the 2010-2011 Season, the York College Theatre present’s an evening of comic jems exploring the pleasures and perversities of contemporary life in ALL IN THE TIMING.

All In The Timing consists of nine zany comedies all linked through the theme of time, communication and relationships. Playwright David Ives, a John Gassner Playwrighting Award winner, takes the audience on a veritable roller coaster of excitement and exploration. All in the Timing was the surprise comedy hit of the 1994 Off-Broadway theatre season in New York. Vincent Canby of the New York Times says the show is "like sketches for some hilarious, celestially conceived revue. The writing is not only very funny, but has the density of thought and precision of poetry. All In The Timing is by a master of fun. David Ives spins hilarity out of words." This production contains mature language and adult situations, and is not recommended for very young audiences.

Under the direction of Professor Timothy J. Amrhein, this production will feature the evocative set designs of faculty member David T. Jones, built by York College students under the direction of CLT G. Lawrence Belcon. It also features vivid lighting of guest designer, Daniel Winters. CLT, Jessica Pecharsky, member of Actor’s Equity Association, rounds off the list as production/stage manager.

The cast of ALL IN THE TIMING features York College students: Jasmaine Calizaire, Alex Constantinides, Fabella Decema, Kimberly Ferrer, Freddy Gonzalez, Joe Grasso, Jarrel Lynch, Sebrena Mason, Bukola Ogunmola, Ryshon Shepherd, Bernard Smith, Kimberly Sooklall & Phil Williams. Also involved are Assistant Directors, Kevin Fandino and La-Toya Mason; and Assistant Stage Manager Annmargaret Centeno.

Performances begin March 18 at 4PM, and continue running March 19 at 8PM; March 20 at 3PM; and conclude March 22 at 12Noon. All performances will take place in the intimate, 156-seat York College Little Theatre in the Performing Arts Center (94-45 Guy R. Brewer Blvd., Jamaica, NY 11451). Tickets are $7.00 for General Admission and $5.00 with a valid college ID and can be purchased at the door or ahead of time between 1pm and 5pm Mondays, and 1pm-4pm on Wednesdays and Fridays in the Performing Arts Center box office. For more information or reservations, call the York College Theatre Information line at (718) 262-5375, or visit York’s website (www.york.cuny.edu).

York College, a senior college of The City University of New York (CUNY), offers baccalaureate degrees in the liberal arts and sciences, accounting and business, communications technology, computer science, social work, teacher education and various health professions. York College is the only CUNY senior college offering majors in gerontology, biotechnology, information systems management and a BS/MS degree in occupational therapy.
Alexis Caputo is a Florida & New York based Performance Artist, Poet, Writer and Activist. Caputo’s artistic portfolio began in performance studies and educational theatre. A chief influence emerged, as Caputo looked upon the historical context of women’s contributions in the arts, personal exploration and her contribution to the educational community where her instruction was received. The interest and strengthening endorsements of Caputo’s work by theatre scholars Dr. Nancy Putnam-Smithner, Dr. Lowell Swortzell and Playwright, Karen Malpede, all whom Caputo studied under, were instrumental and pivotal references.

Set in a family-owned bookstore in modern-day Brooklyn, Tariq, a high school student barely skirting straight F’s, struggles to find his voice in his family and surrounding community. With his only friend Amelia, a dedicated activist, Tariq exploits his one superior talent that is nothing short of dangerous: hacking the internet. When his cousin Rania arrives to the United States under extremely mysterious circumstances, her presence causes a series of events that force Tariq and his family to reevaluate their fundamental ideas about generational differences, discrimination, and truth.

Following The House, commissioned by Noor Theater (resident company at New York Theater Workshop) and The Letter, produced by Golden Thread in San Francisco this past fall, Mansour and Manassah continue their collaboration of creating original work with AFTER. Director Hadi Tabbal played the lead role in Mansour’s world premiere production of The Hour of Feeling at The 2012 Humana Festival for New American Plays, directed by Mark Wing-Davey.

Discuss the play with the director and cast of AFTER. There will be a question and answer forum following each performance.
